How Skry is expanding beyond NFT analytics with CR3 Labs
We are thrilled to announce our expansion beyond our NFT analytics product, Skry, to CR3 Labs, a product studio focused on Web3 gaming and collectibles. This transition is a logical progression given our team's passion for the intersection of gaming and Web3, and our in-depth experience, research, and tools in the industry. We believe that Web3 gaming and collectibles are the future, and we’re dedicated to empowering creators, collectors, and gamers to unlock the value of this new digital frontier.
What It Means for You
Starting today, our previous newsletter, “Skry is the Limit,” will instead be coming from the CR3 Labs Substack. This change enables us to provide you with more concise and in-depth research focused on web3 gaming and collectibles. We’ll also be sharing news updates and research surrounding our core products, including:
Why Now?
Digital scarcity is revolutionizing the internet by introducing a provably finite nature to once infinitely reproducible digital assets. We believe that the convergence of NFTs, 3D, gaming, and AI is the perfect catalyst for a new digital frontier. With CR3 Labs, we aim to use our products, tools, and research to give you an edge in this new frontier.
To be more specific, there are a few areas of technology we are keeping close tabs on. Stay tuned for deep dives on these topics and more in the future.
Blockchain/NFTs: Advancements in Blockchain technology, including new NFT standards, improved wallet UX, and the latest Zero Knowledge scaling technologies. Specifically, our token-bound-token standard, ERC-6551 (NFTs with Accounts), EIP 4337 (Account Abstraction), and ZK EVM Blockchains.
Cloud Gaming: New technology that bridges web-based experiences and AAA game graphics is enabling creators and gamers to interact with large platforms easier through interoperability and seamless development experiences.
Examples: Unreal Engine Pixel Streaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, Unreal Editor for Fortnite, Improbable’s Metaverse Markup Language
Generative AI: Recent advancements in AI, including Chat-GPT, large language models (LLMs), and Midjourney, are paving the way for AI integration into games to create interactive environments, autonomous NPCs, and more.
In addition, Web3 gaming is attracting interest from major brands and investment firms. According to Messari Research, in 2023 alone, over $240MM has been invested in the industry. Moreover, major brands are establishing innovation labs, and senior executives are getting involved in Web3 gaming initiatives. For instance, Sony, Square Enix, Fox Blockchain Creative Labs, Activision alum Daniel Alegre, Epic Games alum Mike Seavers, and many others.
What’s Next?
Our primary mission is to encourage ownership through decentralization. We intend to do this by creating products and tools that empower game developers and creators to leverage the benefits of blockchain technology, including true ownership, cross-game compatibility, and decentralized governance. We are excited to embark on this new chapter in our journey, and we look forward to sharing our progress with you in the coming months.
